Supporting our local communities
Yorkshire has been good to us for over 150 years. People and businesses have trusted us to help them with their finances. So giving something back seems only natural. It’s our pleasure to do it. More than 20% of our staff regularly support their chosen charities through our payroll giving scheme. They also volunteer for charities and projects in work and in their own time. Together we can keep making ‘here’ a better place.
We’ve teamed with Cycle Yorkshire to help make the fun of cycling more accessible to more people. Our involvement also includes sponsorship of the sprinters jersey at the annual Tour de Yorkshire event where people can come along to enjoy first-class racing.
Our ‘Count me in 123’ scheme is a community-backed project to help youngsters learn to count and understand numbers. It helps pre-school children learn in a fun and engaging way and helps parents get involved in their child’s education.
Since 2008 we’ve been a proud partner of Hospice UK. They are the leading charity for hospice care, supporting over 200 hospices across the UK who provide the best possible end of life care to thousands of patients.
So far we’ve raised over ￡5 million to help make a difference to hospice care across the UK.
We’re keen to encourage our employees to volunteer during bank hours and also in their own time. Each year, every employee is given two days’ paid leave to use on a bank-led volunteer activity with charities in the local area.
We’ve been supporting local communities and making a difference to real lives since we first opened our doors. We’re here to help improve the fortunes of people and businesses, because when they prosper so do the places they live in and work in.
Most of us have a goal. It might just be as simple as taking up a new hobby. Or maybe it’s on a grander scale. We like to think of this as having a Plan Me. Check out our hints and tips on how you can save money for your own Plan Me.
