With Apple Pay you can use your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch to make payments in-store or online.
They’re fast, simple to make, and safe — just look out for the contactless or Apple Pay logo. Once you’ve added your Yorkshire Bank debit card or credit card to Apple Pay, you can start paying with your finger and your phone.
To start, you’ll need your Yorkshire Bank Credit Mastercard or Debit Mastercard.
If you have a Touch ID enabled iPhone or iPad, go to the Wallet app.
Then follow the simple instructions that will take you through the set up process. It only takes minutes.
You can make fast payments in-store wherever you see the Apple Pay or contactless logo. Just hold your iPhone next to the contactless reader and press lightly on the Touch ID button.
Your phone will beep and vibrate when the payment’s been made, and ‘Done’ will show on the display.
Apple Pay needs your fingerprint to work, so no one else can make payments using your phone.
It also means that other people can’t make payments with your phone if it’s lost or stolen. For added security, ‘Find My iPhone’ on iCloud lets you disable Apple Pay, or remove all personal info from your phone.

Whatever type of Yorkshire Bank account you have, if it comes with a card, you can add it to Apple pay. Got more than one card? You can add them all and make one of them the default.
Apple Pay lets you make secure and simple in-app payments too. When you get to the checkout, look for the Apple Pay option. You’ll be asked to validate your payment with Touch ID.
The Watch app on your iPhone lets you set up Apple Pay on your Apple Watch. When you want to make a payment, double click the side button on your Apple Watch while you hold it next to a contactless reader. A tap and beep means your payment’s complete.

No. Apple Pay uses a Device Account Number that’s unique to your phone or watch. This means your account details aren’t shared with anyone. The Device Account Number will only work on your phone.
No. Just like making a chip and PIN or contactless payment with your card, using Apple Pay is completely free. You might have to pay network charges to your phone service provider depending on the contract you have with them.
For in-store payments, you’ll need an iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or later. You can also use an Apple Watch paired to an iPhone 5 and above.
For in-app payments, you’ll need an iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3 or later.
On your iPhone, open the Wallet app and press the ‘+’ sign in the top right corner. The app will guide you through the process for adding a card. For an Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and follow the instructions. If you have an iPad with Touch ID, go to Settings then to ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’, then tap ‘Add Credit or Debit Card’.
Yes. You can use the same card on up to nine compatible devices.
Yes. You can load up to eight cards on each device. The default card will be the first card you loaded, unless you change your default.
Your default card will be the first card you set up on Apple Pay. To change the default card on an iPhone, open the Wallet app, then tap and hold the card you want to make the default - simply drag it to the front of your ‘stack’ of cards.
On an iPad, go to Settings then select ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’. Tap on Default Card to select the card you’d like to make your default.
In the Wallet app, tap on the card then touch the small ‘i’ icon in the bottom right hand corner. The ‘remove card’ option is at the bottom of the screen.
Yes – it works on buses, trams, the tube and rail services. When you’re travelling by tube or rail you’ll need to tap in and out. Make sure you have enough battery power to last the full journey, and don’t switch your device off.
If you use both Apple Pay and your contactless payment card, or you use Apple Pay on both an iPhone and an Apple Watch, they'll be treated as separate methods of payment. You must choose which one you want to use to pay for all your travel and use the same one every time.
They’ll appear on your bank statement, just like your other transactions. Depending on the transaction type, your ten most recent transactions will also be shown in your Wallet. Any Debit card transactions will appear in statements, internet banking and our banking apps as 'WLT'. Any Credit card transactions will appear as a normal contactless transaction.
Yes, just look out for the contactless or Apple Pay logos. Remember, when you use Apple Pay abroad there might be different payment limits, and the standard overseas transaction charges will apply.
Some retailers will make any refund back to your device, but others may want to make the refund direct to your card – so it’s a good idea to carry that with you as well. If you have multiple cards on your device, make sure you select the one you made the original payment with.
Yes, just access the card you want to stop notifications for using your Wallet or through the Settings menu. If you switch card notifications off, you’ll no longer be able to see your last ten transactions in the Wallet app.
Please contact us as soon as you can. We will cancel the lost card so that no further purchases can be made and arrange for a replacement card to be issued. For Debit cards, there will be a short break in service (around 24 hours) while the link between your new card and the wallet is updated, this is done automatically for you. You can then continue to use Apple Pay while you wait on your physical card to arrive. For Credit cards, this will be updated on the same day so you can continue to use your card on your device.

Tell us right away. If you let us know you’re an Apple Pay user, we’ll disable your card for use with Apple Pay. Visit www.icloud.com Opens in a new window to turn on lost mode using ‘Find my iPhone’. You can also visit www.icloud.com Opens in a new window to remove your card from an Apple Watch.

If this card is replacing a card of the same type, your wallet will be automatically updated with your new card details for you to continue using Apple Pay. However, if this is a new card type (maybe you’ve changed your account with us or requested different functionality) or if you've never used Apple Pay before, you’ll have to manually add your new card to your Apple Pay wallet.
To give you more protection against fraud we’re working to make online shopping safer.
Under new regulations for boosting online security, we might use our mobile app to confirm you’re the one making an online card payment or if we can’t do that, we’ll send you a one-time passcode to your phone.
If we can’t confirm it’s you when you make an online card payment, your transaction will be declined.
We’re making some changes to give you an extra layer of security and double-check that it’s you whenever you’re shopping online.
All you need to do is download the latest version of our mobile banking app. You’ll then be able to authenticate online card payments using the app – you can use your passcode or fingerprint ID to do this. Just make sure you remember your login details and keep them safe.
Make sure we have your latest contact details, get in touch on 0800 028 1712 to tell us your mobile or landline number. Or you can head to your nearest store. If we don’t have your phone number we won’t be able to send you a passcode and your transaction will be declined.
